Issue
In 2006, Pima County voters overwhelmingly approved RTA 1, a 20-year half-cent sales tax that has funded billions in regional road, street, and transit improvements. That funding expires in July 2026. Without renewal, critical transportation projects across Southern Arizona will lose resources, stalling economic growth and impacting safety, mobility, and jobs.

Position
The Arizona Chapter Associated General Contractors (AZAGC) supports approval of the RTA Next plan, a comprehensive 20-year transportation funding package that continues investments in regional roads, transit, and infrastructure across Pima County.

Why It Matters

Policy Priority
AZAGC urges all contractors, business leaders, and residents of Pima County to support and vote to approve RTA Next on the March 2026 ballot and join Connect Pima—the official campaign supporting RTA Next. This plan is essential to meeting the region’s transportation needs, supporting job creation, and ensuring Southern Arizona remains connected and competitive for decades to come.
