Upon AZAGC’s Urging, Governor Brewer Vetoes HB2495
On April 19, 2012 Governor Brewer Vetoed HB2495 a bill that would have allowed counties to create a preference for local suppliers and contractors. If enacted, local suppliers and contractors would have been given a five percent advantage over those companies that do not have headquarters within the jurisdiction of a county. In her veto letter, Governor Brewer understood how important it is to incoporate local business into a county’s procurment process but felt the bill had some unintended consequences.
